ABOUT US....

Brandon has been a Forest Ranger, the head of the Spruce Budworm spray project in Maine, a pilot for the Maine State Forest Service, a national Forest Fire sector boss, an Eagle Scout, an NRA National Rifle champion, a sheep shearer, ski instructor, and a custom home builder, as well as being a President of Maine Sheep Breeders Association.

Me? (Deb) Well, I’m a Mainer, bred & born. I’m from a 7th generation Maine family on one side & a 2nd Generation Irish/Italian on the other. I  grew up on a small dairy farm, had a career in insurance, own an antiques shop and another shop that sells yarn & Irish imports, won a  State Championship in  Rifle Shooting,  am involved with Border Collie Rescue, and am an avid spinner/knitter.

The job title we like the best is ‘shepherd’ and we love the smell of wool.  We have 2 daughters & 4 grandkids who come to visit the farm & help with the chores. Brandon & I like nothing better than spending time on our Baldwin Maine farm with a herd of 50 sheep, Zena the guard llama, 3-7 dogs (depending on the current rescued border collie &/or Irish puppies), a flock of chickens known as ‘The Girls’, 2 horses, 5 cashmere goats, 4 Pygora goats & 4 angora goats.

We also spend time in Co. Kerry Ireland working on our 300 year old stone cottage in a remote valley that we share with a flock of sheep.

We show our sheep all over the US, and have rocketed to the top of the Jacob Sheep world. Brandon’s best moment in 2006 was winning the Grand Champion ribbon at Estes Park Colorado with our 2 year old ram Ashcroft. Our flock is carefully chosen for breed correctness & fleece quality, as well as personality.

We don’t usually go anywhere that requires more than a clean pair of jeans, although Brandon does own 1 tie with sheep & border collies on it, and Deb does have a dress…..somewhere……

And yes, WOOLLEY really IS our  name --- isn’t that a hoot???
